Lesson 7 - Other Plot Creation Methods

Video 1. EAVision CRM - Plot & Boundary Creation

Ryan from Agri Spray Drones demonstrates two methods for creating plots and boundaries in the EA Vision CRM online portal: using the Plot Management tool and the Ortho Map overlay.

In Plot Management, users can select a location, mark field boundaries, add obstacles or no-spray zones, and upload the plot with details like demand, crop type, and terrain. Once uploaded, the field appears on the drone controller for immediate operation.

The Ortho Map method uses an ortho-mosaic overlay for higher precision. Users follow a similar process—drawing plots and zones, assigning demands, and uploading the field. The updated plot syncs instantly to the drone controller for use.

Both methods help streamline field setup and recordkeeping.

Video 2. Updating Imagery on J100 Remote Control

In this video, Ryan walks through how to upload a TIFF image into the EA Vision remote to update your map imagery. This is useful for overlaying a recent drone-captured image onto the remote's display to improve accuracy, especially when the default Google Maps imagery is outdated.

The process starts by flying a small drone (like a Mavic) to capture new images. These images are then processed using software such as Pix4D Fields to create an ortho mosaic. Once stitched together, the image is exported as a .tiff file (using the "data" option only to avoid white borders) and uploaded to the EA Vision CRM via the Ortho photo Map section.

After upload and confirmation, the imagery automatically syncs to your remote, replacing outdated maps. Users can then plot fields, add no-spray zones or obstacles, and prepare for spraying with clear, updated visuals.

This method ensures better planning and avoids spraying unintended areas.

Video 3. The Handheld Survey Tool

How to Use and Connect the Survey Tool

In this video, Ryan demonstrates how to use the survey tool for mapping fields and marking boundaries or obstacles.

  1. Power On the Survey Tool: Press and hold the button to turn it on. Wait for the GPS light to start flashing.

  2. Connect via Bluetooth: On your remote or phone, go to Device > Survey Tool, ensure Bluetooth is enabled, tap Scan, and select your device once it appears. It will show as connected when paired.

  3. Create a Field Map:

    • Go to Fields > New Field and name it.

    • Tap Mode and select Survey Tool.

    • Choose to map boundary points (obstacles optional).

    • Tap the survey tool icon and begin mapping.

  4. Drop Points:

    • As you move through the field, drop points by tapping the Add button.

    • You can drop points while driving — stopping isn’t necessary unless more precision is needed.

    • The survey tool can remain on your dashboard or seat.

  5. Switch Between Devices:

    • If switching from remote to phone, disconnect from one device before connecting to another.

    • Make sure both devices have internet if you want to sync data between them.

  6. Review and Plan Mission:

    • Once mapping is done, open your saved field, verify points, and begin planning your mission.
